The Edge – Encounters with Nature

The Edge is an essay film about the multifaceted relationship between humans and nature in one specific place, Helsinki Central Park. The park is a large and partly forested area stretching north from the center of Helsinki. In this park, the relationship between humans and nature becomes visible. It can be harmony, dialogue, but unfortunately often it is utilitarian thinking and exploitation. The film also tells about people, the park's users: busy commuters, slowly shuffling pensioners, children building huts, skiers, mountain bikers, maintenance workers, conservationists, and builders felling trees.
