The State Award for Public Information was granted to Ville Suhonen for the documentary film Seamstress.

The Committee for Public Information submits the annual shortlist for the State Award for Public Information. The Award is granted for printed or other information products intended for the public at large and published during the previous calendar year. The products may be books, radio or television programmes, newspapers or periodicals. The Award can be conferred on an individual author, journalist, producer or a team. The Award can also be granted to a person for a distinguished life's work in public information. Publishers, organisations, etc. may put forward their proposals for recipients.

 Seamstress is a historical documentary film of Martta Koskinen, a seamstress born in 1896 who was executed in the year 1943. She was the last woman executed by the state. Director and writer Ville Suhonen wants to bring Finnish history forward and uses the fate of one person as an example.
