School of Hope competing in Olympia International Film Festival

25.11.2021

Mohammed El Aboudi’s School of Hope will compete in Olympia International Film Festival. The film is part of the festival’s Kids & Docs series. The 24th Olympia International Film Festival will be held November 27 - December 4, 2021 at Pyrgos and Amaliada (Peloponnese).

The film has been produced by the Russian Ethnofund Film Company, the Norwegian Ten Thousand Images, the Estonian Baltic Film Production and the Finnish Illume Oy.

School of Hope is an intimate and charming portrait of optimism in the harshest of environments. In the vast expanse of desert East of Atlas Mountains in Morocco, seasonal rain and snow once supported livestock, but now the drought seems to never end. Hardly a blade of grass can be seen, and families travel miles on foot to get water from a muddy hole in the ground. Yet the children willingly ride donkeys and bicycles or walk for miles across rocks to a “school of hope” built of clay.
