Martti Puukko studied at the Jagellonian University in Cracow 1980-1982 and at the University of Wroclaw in 1990-1991. During 1991 – 1997 he lived in Prague and worked for the biggest Swedish daily newspaper "Aftonbladet".
He has translated three books from Polish into Finnish; Hän ei ollut kokonainen 1993 ( texts of well known theatre personality Jerzy Grotowski ), Sata Szymborskaa 2003 ( hundred poems of Nobel-winning poet Wislawa Szymborska) and Hetki 2004 ( "Moment" another large selection of Szymborkas poetry). He has also written two books on central-Eastern Europe; Unelman pitkä varjo 1995 and Puolalainen vuorokausi 1997 ( "A long shadow of a dream" and "Polish day").
He has worked for the television news ( foreing department ) at Yle in 2001 - 2002.
